Can a mixture of Ritalin and antidepressants cause severe depression?

I have been using antidepressants for over 7 months now but I started using Ritalin a month ago. With the antidepressants I was able to manage my depression very well but I seem to have relapsed with even more severe depression since the usage of Ritalin. Have any of you experienced the same problems or have you been in the same situation without any of the same side effects? My doctor says that its alright to mix the two drugs, but with the way that I'm feeling, I'm severely beginning to doubt his judgement!
