Can you PROVE a diagnosis of mania or bipolar disorder?

Is there a chemical or hormonal test a doctor can give you to prove these disorders? OR do they just ask you questions about your mood swings and hand you the anti-depression/psychotics/anxiety prescription?

Has anyone out there been diagnosed with bipolar disorder or manic depression and calmed their symptoms with natural ways like exercise, healthy living, meditation, positive thinking/reading concentration? if so how and what would you suggest as an alternative to pill popping super meds for the rest of your life?

of course not

psychology and psychiatry are not hard sciences... you cant even provide LEGAL proof let alone scientific proof of a diagnosis. the "proof" that you have a mania or a disorder is the "diagnosis"... if a doctor diagnosis you, thats the proof of the condition.

And of course there are natural ways to treat these conditions... the same way that there are natural cures for cancer and infections... but popping pills have a measureable success rate, whereas trying the Natural cure is mostly wishful thinking that hardly ever works

i'm bi-polar and originally they just asked questions but then i had a medical test and kinda confirmed it but still the medical side is only a 'theory'.

I have tried meditation and exercise but nothing worked better than the pills.
