@george4titIe Just to be clear, I'm not even for closing all of our bases in Europe. I would still keep at least 1 or 2 major bases open, but we have many many bases outside of the United States that are not vital to our interests and cost us far more than they benefit us.
@george4titIe What's with the name calling? No one, especially not me, has argued to close "ALL" our overseas bases. We simply need to close most of them, excepting most in the Pacific, in order to drawback & drawndown for the purpose of dealing with our fiscal issues. This is what should be done to deal with our problems, but I'm fully aware that this will not be done. And you know this very well, but the dollar will not remain the world reserve currency because we are determined to collapse.
Charlie please make fun videos. Don't get too alarmist. Give out recipes for good broth & wheat bread meals. Unemployment benefits are ending. Food stamps for illegals should be reigned in. Do something else besides these videos because you could be making muffins at Starbucks. Do something like apply for a job as a used car salesman. The U.S. military is WASTING biblical amounts of money in god forsaken holes. Bases in Japan, Guam. Aghanistan etc etc etc ? The military industrial complex is now part of the corporate finance capitalist system. The U.S. army are sending tanks to Afghanistan as we speak (to fight a lost cause in a totally backwards Jihadi shithole). The Democans are not even trying to lift the U.S. out of the shit anymore. To top it all off we have wanker bin laden's suicide brigade trying to kill us. LOL

I'm for closing about 90% of our overseas bases and focusing necessary military might in the Pacific, but I COMPLETELY agree with you about the border and getting ourselves under control before it's too late. The unfortunate thing is, I think its probably already too late, but I sure hope that we start acting like we've got a brain soon.

Why don't we close our borders and concentrate on our own citizens and their prosperity first before we completely lose the ability to maintain one overseas base let alone 198.
If the dollar comes crashing down (63% world reserves held in dollars) the entire world will be after our heads no matter where you set foot on earth.
@Rizky06 Yes, survival. You're the one that brought up nuclear weapons. I was talking about being able to purchase more F-22s and possibly fewer inferior F-35s. I was talking about accelerating the decomissioning of older Nimitz carriers and settling for a slightly smaller but more capable next generation super-carrier force. In short, I was talking about taking a leap in technology while drawing down overall numbers and committments in order to pay for staying on top of the world.
Don't forget the Oligarchs love socialism because it consolidates power and the money they hand out to the umemployed goes right back into their pocket anyway.

@veritasfiles I'm still confused about the pointless aggressive wars we got going on. If Germany did this, well we had words for that. We do need to be closing hundreds of overseas bases. I don't think that our military is protecting our survival anymore, they're more detrimental to our survival these days. Every empire that adopts perpetual war collapses. We're already starting to collapse, we need to pull back.
@rayme4raw Logically speaking, this is an incorrect strategy. I'm for dipping the U.S. defense budget and then re-raising it through a process of shutting down most overseas bases & committments, scrapping older equipment at faster than replacement rates in order to bring in sufficient amounts of the newest technology. But ensuring your nation's survival is the first goal of any civilization, as it's survival that gives all other goals and actions meaning. Without survival you can do nothing.
@Michigansnowpony What you say is true, but it doesn't change the facts that are in play or whether what I've said is accurate. The fact of the matter is, no matter what your age, individuals should not rely on the government to provide for their retirement. If they do, fine. But if they don't, then each person needs to be prepared to handle that themselves. Since you're aware of this, that's precisely the course that you should pursue. We all should. It is in fact, our only option.
