Depression – Signs of It

Depression is a mental illness that can and do affect adults as well as children. sometimes, it can be a bit difficult to decide if you are suffering from this sickness or, if you are simply faced with a period of sadness.

This sickness could prevent you from enjoying your day to day activities as you usually do and if one of these sign is present for you or someone you know, do not jump to conclusions, it is a combination of these things that should be considered. However, as with all mental illnesses, you should seek out a doctor and he/she with make a diagnosis.

Not enough or Too Much Sleep
Insomnia is the inability to sleep without the aid of medication and if you were not suffering from it before, but presently, as bedtime approaches, although you are very tired, you cannot fall to sleep. you have tried taking a long bath and drinking some warm milk just before bedtime, but still, these did not work.

Additionally, there have not been any changes in your daily routine and yet, you find yourself sleeping more often than usual, this can also be a sign of this illness. As you would know, there is usually a balance when it comes to sleep and having too much or not having enough sleep will be throwing things out of order. Yes, in either case, it will greatly affect your daily activities.

Lack of Energy
Here as well, if you find yourself feeling tired and you do not have a lot of energy during the day, although your workload has not increased and you are still taking multivitamin, everything is not well.

Lack of Concentration
Whether it is a small or a big task and you are having trouble concentrating on it, it may be because of this illness.

Thoughts of Suicide
The thought of taking your life is never a good idea and although you may not be faced with any of the other signs mentioned here, this is very serious. Seek out someone who will be able to help you with this.

Weight Gain or Loss
Weight gain or loss because of eating too much, or not eating enough is common among those with depression. you may be eating too much because of it, or you may not be eating enough as a result of being in this state. there is the lack of balance here and as with sleep, there should be a balance.

Medication
Some medications can cause you to become depress. therefore, before taking any pills, find out about their side effects.

On the other hand, if you are already taking some, have a talk with the doctor who prescribed it.
