Does anyone know anything about mania/manic depression triggers, ect?

okay. so idk if this is normal but the past year ive been getting symptoms of manic depression/bipolar disorder. i just turned 17 a week ago so is it just a abnormal hormone imbalancein teenagers or is it a progressing illness or what? im kinda freaked out because i havent always been like this. i dont really think its anything big but thought of the possibility and i have looked up symptoms and episodes and triggers and its pretty similar. i havent talked to anyone about it really cuz im not reall an open person but i have talked to two of my friends. i think a cause of why i think im insane is because next year my best friend is moving away for two years and i wont beable to see him. and ive been hanging out a lot with him likeveryday but when i dont see him like once i get really messed up suicidal thoughts and stuff.. so yeah. thanks in advance lol. i hope i gave good details ect

As for triggers specifically - triggers vary by individual, they are personal and there are no set "triggers".

If you are concerned about the way you've been feeling, then ask your parents to take you to the doctor so you can receive an assessment. your suicidal thoughts are serious and they need to be talked about with a responsible adult - even a school counselor if you don't feel comfortable telling your parents.

well its probly just a hormonal imbalence like u said. but if u have suicidal thots call 911, tell them, all theyll do is take u 2 a syciatrist or posibly a mental hospital, but they rnt tht bad

Lack of sleep is a major trigger of mania - the others I found on the web.... everyone is different and some people have no triggers at all (episodes are totally random) but any of the things below can push someone with Bipolar into a deeper episode than the normal person would experience.

Triggers come in many forms- from the positive, such as:

a new relationship
the birth of a child
a promotion at work
graduating from college
an exciting vacation
to the negative:

sleep changes due to work schedules
troublesome relationships
a death in the family
or most significantly, drug and alcohol abuse. Of all of the triggers, these two are the most detrimental.
Common Bipolar Disorder Triggers
Alcohol and drug abuse
Argumentative, negative and aggressive people (if this describes you, reducing your bipolar disorder symptoms can help with the problem)
Stressful work- especially work with constantly changing hours
Travel - especially travel with time zone changes
Relationship problems
Non-supportive family members and friends
Excessive media exposure to stressful world events
Social isolation
Medication side-effects
