I've had the symptoms of and on for about a year now.
They'll go away, the come back.
I really do want to tell her because I'm tired of being depressed.
She's just going to say I have no reason to be depressed because I have no chores, I get whatever I want, etc.
But she doesn't realize people can't help it if they have depression.
Tell her you're depressed and show her a website about depression so she can understand it: why it happens, symptoms, treatment, etc.
It helps if you tell her this in a quiet, private place that you feel comfortable and relaxed in.
Remember that it's okay that you're depressed, and chances are your parents will understand and try to get you the help you need.
Don't freak out if you have to take antidepressants. they don't change you, just your feelings. they really aren't that bad.
There is a website suicidalteens.com where there is a form you can copy and till out to give your Mom. Also you can give her info that you find out at American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Find link to Facts for Family. Don't judge your Mom. she may not understand. The luckiest people on earth can be depressed.
Yes you can do something about it. are you female? my lovely wife has suffered with it for a few years and finally went to see her doctor. He found that she has a thyroid problem, called Hashimoto's disease. Her medication is helping, but the menopause has added to her problems.
Do check out Hashimotos on the Net and you'll be surprised at what you see - and get help.
Oh, tell Mum after your search.
Good luck.
Just flat out and say it and don't be laughing about it cuz tehn she'll think ur not being genuine and if she don't believe u rite tehn an there she may be "scared" so will try to hide her feelings by that way, but if anything talk to ur doc by urself if she still won't listen and u told her more tahn once.
Just tell her. it is a real diagnosis. tell her to understand and maybe together she can help you seek treatment.
How to tell my mom I have the symptoms of depression?
