How to tell the difference between depression and laziness?

I am confused between the two. How can you tell the difference between depression and just pure laziness?

Depression is being sad and hurt and not doing anything.

Laziness is not doing anything just because they don't feel like it.

That's a hard one for me too.

I suspect that depression not only affects your ability to do major tasks, but menial ones as well.

As for laziness? If you know you can do a thing and have the energy for it, but would rather fart about and have fun, then there could be a hint of the lazy git going on there.

i know people who are depressed...they are usually sad a lot, crying, a lot, and angry a lot.laziness is just like you don't feel like doing anything.

When you're depressed you are really sad and you begin to not care about anything in the world and it really affects you mentally.

Laziness is more of a choice. You're not incapable of doing something or mentally unwell, you just don't want to do it.

I guess I can see how it can be confusing. They could both seem like the same thing at times.
