Teenage depression can be quite a tumultuous problem not just for the adolescent but also for the adult. a lot of factors come into play, emotional, physical, social and psychological that can create a lot of problems in a person's life. 1.Withdrawal from activities: the teenager may become aloof from various activities and events that he was a part of. this is due to the depression that has swept over him. he does not see any interest in pursuing academics, sports or a task that he used to enjoy doing.

2. Isolation: the teen feels that he is uninvited and looked down upon by his group of friends. even if they don't think so, he will prefer to keep by himself because he feels there is no point in being with such people.

5. Guilt: Since the teen is already feeling low, if anything that he does not produce good results, he tends to become overly critical and blame himself entirely for things that that have not gone his way.

6. Indecision: Since the teen is depressed, his decisions are clouded with panic and anxiety. As such there can be erratic and faulty decision making which will in turn make him more nervous and worried.

7.Lack of focus: the teen who is immersed in negative thoughts is not able to focus properly either on his studies or any other activity. Teen treatment centers find this trait very common among people who are severely stressed.

8.Loss of memory: Loss of memory is also a common symptom among teenagers or a person of any other age group, when faced with acute depression. Since the teenager is already caught up in too many tensions, he is not able to think properly and since he is thinking too much at one point of time, he is not able to retain and hence begins to feel as if he is losing his mind.

9.Feels that he has let down his parents: If the teenager loves his parents, friends or some special person, he feels that due to his failure, he has let them down. These thoughts are enough to give rise to suicidal tendencies.

10.Inability to sleep: It is not hard to say that the teen who is suffering from depression is unable to sleep properly. for most of the time, his thoughts will be diverted on how he is spoiling his life and that his life is not worth living.

Besides the above warning signs of depression, parents may also note a change in the eating pattern of the child and the fact that he is withdrawing himself from communicating as he used to do before. there are teenagers who also indulge in substance abuse as an escapist phenomenon to beat stress and depression.
