ALL credit-expansionary policies are counterproductive. Say the BoE reduces rates to 1%. Bob who borrows from a commercial bank will be able to increase his monthly loan and pay the same amount of interest as before the rate cut. Thus, he has a free lunch and acts ambitiously, buying more production goods. But the FRBs giving out that money do so as printed FIAT credit so prices later rise offsetting increased purchasing power but Bob ACTED as if his PPower HAD increased: arise, malinvestment!
