Very scared i have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)?

I went to my doctors three days ago. she schedule me for blood work, and referred me to get a ultrasound.

She thinks i might have PCOS.

I have had a total of 8 pregnancy all but one ended in miscarriage never had to have a DNC my son is almost 4 years old. Before i got pregnant with my son i lost almost 30 lbs I'm now at my heaviest pushing 350.. And its very hard to lose the wight. I also did not know but found out 5 years ago that I was RH negative.

Here are my symptoms:

Few or no menstrual periods ( *when i was younger Now somewhat regular* )

Heavy, irregular vaginal bleeding. (*during my period not to gross anyone out but its like a massacre in my bathroom 6 to 8 times a day while I'm on my period.*)

Hair loss (* started when i was around age 20. I have a bald spot on the back of my head and thin hair I use to have such thick hair*)

Acne and oily skin, (*almost all of my adult life*)

Depression or mood swings. (*almost all of my life)

Weight gain or upper body obesity (* soon as i turned 13 I have been battling with weight loss*)

Repeat miscarriages.

Inability to become pregnant (* my husband and I meet in 99 dropped birth control in 2000 married in 2004 and had my son in 2007 *)

insulin resistance, (*I'm not diabetic, but had gestational diabetes. It was controlled threw diet and exercise. My mother is extremely insulin resistance. *)

Male-type hair growth on the face and body (*I thought this was normal at get waxed twice a month*)

Fatigue. (*story of my life*)

Skin tags (* many on my neck under breast and thighs*)

carrying the excess weight around your middle (*tear*)

skin dark or discolored (*on my neck, and thighs*)

I'm can't sleep and can't stop worrying here are my questions

How soon will i know after the blood test? can the blood test alone determine if i have PCOS or something else? what medication do they prescribe and how expensive is it to help treat this?

hey dear. I have PCOS and I have most of the same symptoms. the blood work with check to see how everything is working. checking hormone levels. PCOS causes severe imbalances, causing depression, fatigue and so on. also weight problems. I have been fighting the scale for 10 years.
what is great one of the medications to treat PCOS is metformin, which is also used to treat diabetes. once I started taking it I was able to balance out and feel better and I started losing a little weight ( I was also dieting, but it was easier) and whats really awesome if the medication is $4 a month depending on how high the dose is. Dr's usually like topair this medication with a type of birth control to regulate your cycles. a normal cycle means normal hormones, means a happier you.
they will do an ultrasound to check for cycts on your ovaries, which will help confirm the bloodwork. I had to take Clomid to get pregnant with my son, it is also used to help regulate and treat PCOS to get a normal rhythm going inside.

just type in "PCOS treatment" or "metformin and PCOS" of something along those lines and you will find a lot of information that will make you feel better.

good luck and I hope they cna get you straightened out.

I found out I have pcos when I was 18, you don't need to be scared. I don't know where you live, but you should find a pcos clinic and they will help you with the symptoms also help you with an appropriate diet and you also will need to test for insulin resistance. The worse problem I have with pcos is to have a baby, but since you already have one, you might not have problems conceiving.
