Take antidepressants; see a psychiatrist and psychologist.
I feel your pain my friend. I am only 16, but last year I was struck down with depression. At least you know and understand you have depression, it took me a long time to figure out why I have been feeling so tired and won all the time. Try reading about your condition on the internet, to un derstand more, and maybe visit your local doctor or phyciatrist. They will help you make sense of it all, with the help of pharmacy pills. You could end up addicted, so constant communication with a doctor is important.
I personally didn't go to a doctor due to my age and naiveness, but you should. Also, try your hardest to get out there, go shopping and be among friends. it is important to stay connected with your loved ones as depression can linger longer if you are lonely. Try to find the main cause of your depression and focus on changing that. if you don't face up to ur fears or problems they will never resolve.
Please seek help and I wish you the best:)
good luck.
I do heavy physical work in the yard(I have been chopping down a large oak tree with an axe this summer) I also work two jobs so I don't have time to think.
Sometimes I stop eating for a few days, hunger lets me concentrate on something else, although this can be a problem as after about 4 or 5 days you stop being hungry.
I have tried two different medications but one made me freak out and the other worked great but I was very allergic to and it damaged my vision(permanently)
Exercise, eating good meals, getting plenty of sleep and a good attitude are good places to start.. Good friends and support help too. Therapy has helped me because I have learned some really good coping skills. Having a job where I'm appreciated helps me a lot.
Antidepressants can help
Talking to a psychiatrist or psychologist
Meditation
Any form of exercise
Writing in a journal
Talking to a close friend or family member
I have done the last four for mine. Meditation and writing can work if you can make it positive. There were some times when I was in a dark place and those made it worse. Exercise works if you work to the point of exhaustion. As for friend or family members, choose wisely. My mom was zero help to me but my best friend helped immensely. Good luck and remember that you aren't alone.
I find the best way is to keep busy. This gives you less time to think about negative things. Also try like crazy to stay positive. Force it. Eventually it will become normal and your negative thoughts should be less. Try to remember that you cannot change the past. Think of it as a learning lesson. Take what you want from it. Let the rest go. Get some sun too. Lay in it, enjoy it. Being outside does a lot for someone. Go for a walk some where you like. Exercise is good for depression for so many reasons. Some people actually do need meds. It takes a while to find the right one. But use it as last resort. I hope you find yourself. I was told one word and it goes through my mind all the time and it is ACCEPTANCE.
it depends how severe your depression is, here is a reference on depression treatment guide, hope it helps..
Seriously I have been on every anti-depressant out there. I am bipolar with major depression, ADD. OCD bla, bla, bla. Today I ordered Empowerplus supplements. Note: I am not endorsing them just saying what I did. I am keeping my fingers crossed that this will work. I am desperate. I know many anti-depressants work for many people and you might want to try them. Fish oil & omega 3's work (supplements). For now I am in search of an answer also.
