I think I have depression. I've been feeling very upset for a few months, and I randomly burst into tears during the day. I've been feeling very pessimistic about life. I feel like I don't really know what I'm living for, and sometimes I wish I was never born. I don't tell anyone these feelings because I'm worried I'll scare them away, so I keep them all bottled up inside. my depression is affecting my personal relationships..my boyfriend can tell that I'm always upset/preoccupied about something and he says that things between us aren't the same as they used to be as a result. also, my mother was diagnosed with manic depression (bipolar II), I have a third cousin who is schizophrenic and my aunt committed suicide from depression. I think that hereditary factors, pessimism, and low self esteem have lead to depression.
Should I make an appointment with a counselor at my University or a doctor? I think that the counselors can prescribe medication as well if it's needed.
Start with the counselor, and if they feel that you need to see a doctor, they can refer you to one.
Good luck!
get meds from your doctor
Talk to Jesus. He's listening.
See a doctor tell them everything you have said on here good luck
yes at your university, talk to your parents to let them know about it, otherwhise your pediatrician, they help alot
DOCTOR! I know about all those things... experianced them in my family too. But really get help. You wont regret it!
therapist, parents, ask you doctor. there is no need to be depressed just live your life.
if you feel comfortable talking with the counselor at your university, that'd be a great place to start! at the very least you should talk to someone. there are lots of people out there dealing with depression, so know that you're not alone. and with all your family's history, you seem to know that. I wish you luck.
Most councilors cannot prescribe the medication. But they can set up an appointment (after being diagnose by themselves) with someone who can. I go to one and I have my first of two psychiatrist appointment; that's who will tell me if I can have medication or not.
I would say you are right; you seem depressed. Insurance will usually pay for a lot, if not all of it. I have the crappiest coverage, but it pays for all of this.
tell me email me dear. Just get it all off your chest. I don't ridicule I'll just allow you to get it off your chest. Heck just if you write down on a paper and burn it sometimes it makes it better. I was depressed when I was teenager heck I'm still depressed (as told by the commercials) but I just accept it. I guess you could call it manic. oh well.
As for making appointments? Why the heck not.
go to a doctor. they'll give you some medication.
don't be afraid to tell people, either. bottling up makes everything worse. tell ur bf, he should know a lot about you anyway, and maybe he'll go to the doctor with you.
i hope you feel better soon.
you can talk to me...message me or im
i think you should make an appointment with a psychiatrist and just explain exactly that to them and they will help. you may not need medication and it would probably be better for you if you could get through it without any drugs. good luck and i hope you will soon understand that while life may be pointless, its freakin fun! hope i could help:)
dont know if this will work for you.. i started working out, eathing really healthy, taking a multi vitimin and drinking a lot of green tea, and quit smoking cigarets and drinking,
i was depressed for years. i have been in a pretty good mood especially after i quit smoking.. may just be me.. go see your counceler and also give that a try.. also you may want to look up 5-htp its a amino acid you get in the vitamin section at wall greens or where ever that pretty much does what anti depressents do.. increase your seretonin levels... only this is natural and not a bunch of chemicales mixed to geather like the medicines..
some days i would get up and go back to sleep 2 hours later and stay asleep till i got up to go to work that night.. basically i was lazy, pissed off, had no energy or motivation and was depressed, one day i forced my self to start working out.. i noticed a big rush of energy when i was done.. and every day for a little while i forced my self to work out.. and felt much better every day after i had worked out.. some times you got to make your self do things.. no matter how crappy you feel or lazy and mad you are.. just do it...
ill add one more thing.. start dressing nice and get a good hair cut.. you look good you feel good... i got some new stylish jeans and some plain old black t shirts with nothing on them.. and that make me feel better about my self too.. compared to wearing my old band t shirts and my 8 year old jeans that were about ready for the garbage any ways..
go see that move yes man with jim carrye too.. it will really make you thing about your life... and how you can change it for the better easily..
you really need to go to a mental health clinic.first you need to see a psychiatrist, then a psychologist to have some medications and therapies.I'm pretty sure you are going to get better.Good luck to you.
Make an appointment with your doctor. Be sure to articulate your family history and how you have been feeling and why if you can. After talking with you, the doctor will hopefully determine which direction -- drug therapy, therapy sessions with a psychologist/social worker, and/or refer you to a psychiatrist. Could one, could be all. It all depends on how well the doctor knows you and if they feel medication is the only requirement, amongst other things. Whatever you do, just get help. Good luck!
i am reading a brilliant book now on depresion I am doing a psychology degree so know what is good. their are a few good ones.
I saw it on Tv, the psychiatrist and its brilliant God bless you can get better but we all need knowledge to help us overcome and try to talk to someone with a caring heart.

You really should get some help for your depression, which you show obvious signs of. yes, make that appointment with your doctor, but medicine isn't always the best treatment. Sure, you may have hereditary factors, but common depression can be treated by very simple cures. You need to find your source of your depression, (possible with your therapist/doctor) and thus talk about that time in your life that still affects you today. You need to get over these things that have happened to you, because they are usually the cause of one's depression. A bit of therapy and having those around you that care for you always fixes the illness you are suffering.
On a final note, get some help now, because you don't want to push those you love away from you because of your depression. I hope you get better!
a psychiatrist will do more for you than a fictional being from aesop fables
You should see a psychiatrist and tell them everything. your family has a lot to do with depression. a lot of it could stem from your childhood....don't stress about your problems, think about how you can make everything negative in your life, a positive thing. it's difficult to teach your mind not to think the worst or not to think about things that depress you but you can control it if you constantly think of ways and if you talk to someone. medication isn't always the answer. there are plenty of homeopathic ways to treat depression, google it. drink some nice hot decaf tea, chamomile. read the book THREE BLACK SKIRTS, talks about everything in life you need to deal with. hope this helps.
Who should I talk to if I have depression?

Pretend the doctor just told you that you have to quit smoking, or you'll be dead in 5 months. Works every time.
